Battle of the Bands 2020

 

Are you ready for this?

Many bands will enter, but only one will be chosen as the winner for Rock and Roll San Diego’s Inaugural Battle of the Bands. The competition will be fiercer than any other Battle of the Bands but will be livestreamed so that we can practice our social distancing but still rock out. Feel the heat and witness firsthand the live performances of these future musical stars.

Entry Guidelines

Battle of the Bands 2020 is…

Open to all bands (minimum 2 people)

Open to anyone who wants to enter, at any stage of his or her musical pursuits, all you need is a passion for music and the acumen to win over the judges and audiences.

Artists must be eighteen (18) years of age or older to enter or have the consent of a parent or guardian; no participating artist can be an employee of Rock and Roll San Diego, or related to any employe of RRSD.

Registration materials and songs/demo must be submitted by September 30th, 2020.

Bands must be available to perform on any of the following Saturdays: October 10, 17, 24, 31, November 7, 14, 21, December 5, 12, 19

How To Enter:

  1. Fill out the entry form above

  2. Pay a $100 non-refundable entry fee

  3. Send a video demo of the song that the band will be performing along with a bio of the band and why you want to win the Battle of the Bands 2020. Acceptable formats include a link to a DropBox or Hightail, website or YouTube video link.

  4. Sign a Video Release form.

Rules & Regulations

Rock and Roll San Diego and assigned judges will listen to songs.

Semi-finalists will be selected and invited to perform on a livestream at Rock and Roll San Diego on any of the following Saturdays: October 10, 17, 24, 31, November 7, 14, 21, December 5, 12, 19

Each band will perform no longer than a 15 minute set.

Finalists will be judged by a panel of industry professionals whose decisions are final based on the following criteria: Musicianship, Originality, Quality of Sound, Showmanship.

Each competing band receives 15% off rehearsal room bookings until December 31, 2020.

All songs performed by the Artists during the contest, attributed to the artists in any media, or used while the band is participating in the contest (original and/or cover songs) must not infringe upon the intellectual property rights, or defame or inside the publicity or privacy rights, of any third party, living or deceased. Creative Materials may not contain “sampling” from other songs, music, sound effects, or any other elements in which the Artists do no have the necessary rights to, title and interest, including copyright.
